Responsible for the overall management of mining projects. Assists in staffing, outlining project plans, setting project goals/deadlines, and evaluating performance. Ensures the safety and health of mine workers. Recommends corrective action when problems are detected.
- Reviewing reports on production levels, equipment breakdowns, mine accidents, and other relevant data to identify potential problems and provide solutions
- Reviewing safety regulations, standards, and procedures to ensure they are followed at all times
- Monitoring the environmental impact of mining operations on natural resources and taking steps to mitigate any negative impacts
- Providing leadership and managerial skills to coordinate all operations at the mine site, including hiring and training workers, purchasing supplies, and maintaining equipment
- Managing a team of employees, including supervisors and foremen who oversee workers at the mine site
- Conducting training sessions to educate employees on mine safety procedures and protocols to ensure their safety during work hours
- Conducting inspections of equipment and facilities to ensure that safety standards are being met
- Establishing safety protocols for all employees in accordance with SMRC regulations regarding mine safety
